COMPANY DESCRIPTION

RPS, Inc. is a bio-technology company with a revolutionary assay platform known as Direct Sampling Micro-Filtration Technology. This proprietary technology enables RPS to develop, manufacture, and market rapid, easy-to-use, point-of-care diagnostic detection tests for infectious diseases and agents, inflammatory conditions, genetic markers, and select chemical warfare and bio-terrorism agents.

The company's first product, the RPS Adeno DetectorTM represents the first CLIA-waived, in-office device that physicians can use to determine the underlying source of infectious conjunctivitis (commonly known as pink eye).

Vision

RPS, Inc. strives to be recognized as the worldwide vanguard for Direct Sampling Micro-Filtration Assay (DSM-FA) technology and the market leader in Point-of-Care diagnostic tests for the detection of known, new and emerging infections and inflammatory conditions as well as chemical warfare and bio-terrorism agents.

History

Born out of a joint venture between a German bio-tech company and a visionary family of practicing ophthalmologists, Rapid Pathogen Screening (RPS), Inc. emerged as an independent entity in 2004. Initially, the focus of product development was centered on ocular disease states.

In 2006, RPS achieved two major milestones:
  • Opened a new, state-of-the art research laboratory in Sarasota, Florida
  • Launched its first product, the RPS Adeno DetectorTM

The following year brought the formation of the RPS Technology and Development organization, a group dedicated to securing government contracts. To date, RPS has been awarded multiple contracts for chemical warfare nerve agent detection and continues to expand this area of the business.

Along the way, RPS has secured two technology patents and has several more pending approval. The company's commitment to innovation and quality provides the foundation for future product developments and technology breakthroughs.

Management Structure

An elected Board of Directors and experienced Leadership Team manage the RPS business. The company founders, José Sambursky, MD and his two sons Daniel and Robert (both MDs), continue to serve on the Board of Directors. Dr. Robert Sambursky also serves as Chief Medical Officer of RPS.
